How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?

(Accept my apologies for the Bee Gees title. I do a better job of free associating earlier in the morning.)

Sibby at Sibby Online offers the text of a couple of messages posted by “Erin” at Mt. Blogmore that are worth a look. Erin may be a bit emotional, yet she offers a compelling and persuasive perspective on the “Hildebrand Boys” and their efforts in blog-o-land.

How can anyone be so upset, frustrated, and hurt for so long? It must be love…

Are you making light of a serious

situation? Maybe I'm not just not

understanding your point. It seems

to be a little demeaning that

my emotion is not valid except in

the context of love.

Men can freely express anger with

all the validity in the world, but

females must be in love. What's

wrong with that picture. Maybe

I have a legitimate reason to feel

the way I do, given my recent

experiences. I don't think it's

funny or cute.

Whoa Erin! I left you and probably others with the wrong impression and for that I apologize.

Actually I agree with pretty much everything you said in your post on Mt. Blogmore. I do believe that your argument was emotional. Your points though about the H boys being nothing be negative in the extreme and serving no purpose except to whip up everyone's emotions hit the target.

My reference to a Broken Heart was one possible explanation for why the H boys and others are spewing so much venom and NOT directed that you or any other women can for expressing any emotions (including anger) they experience. Holding such feelings in or attempting to disguising them is only a ransparent attempt at deceit and hinders real communication.

Your reference to having "real reasons for feeling the way I do" certainly piques one's curiosity. Maybe someday you can expand on that sentiment too.

Erin -- While I understand your initial misunderstanding of Gabe's "it must be love" comment -- I'm glad he clarified himself. It would be a shame for anyone to mistake him for a sexist jerk when he's more enlightened than 99% of the male population. To say he's not threatened by strong women would be an understatement. He's been married to the same outspoken, highly driven, competitive, opinionated and independent woman for over 20 yrs -ME. To put a modern spin on an old cliche -- There's a great man behind this successful woman. P.S. His humor can be an acquired taste, but like a good wine it's to be savored and enjoyed.
